How account security works
Cronos app uses a smart wallet system that removes the need for seed phrases or private key management. Your wallet is secured through your Google account, Apple account, or passkey.
Authentication: You sign in with your existing Google account, Apple account, or a passkey. No separate password to remember or lose. Passkeys use your device's biometric (Face ID, Touch ID) or PIN, providing phishing-resistant authentication without relying on a third-party identity provider.
Wallet security: Your wallet is a smart contract wallet protected by multiple layers of security. Your signing keys are generated and stored inside Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), also known as secure enclaves, which provide hardware-level isolation at the processor level. Keys are never stored in complete form. They are split across separate security boundaries using cryptographic sharding, so even if one system is compromised, your keys remain protected. All sensitive wallet operations (signing transactions, approving trades) happen entirely within these secure enclaves and never leave the isolated environment.
Biometric protection: Sensitive actions like confirming trades require biometric verification (Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode) as an additional layer of protection.
No seed phrase: Unlike traditional crypto wallets, there is no seed phrase to write down, lose, or have stolen. Your account recovery is tied to your Google account, Apple account, or passkey (synced via iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or your chosen passkey provider).
What we do not have access to
Cronos app cannot move your funds without your explicit confirmation. Every transaction requires your biometric approval.
Your signing keys are held in secure enclaves and are not accessible to Cronos app staff. Only you can authorize transactions.
The wallet system is non-custodial, meaning Cronos app does not hold or control your assets on your behalf.
Tips to stay safe
Keep your Google or Apple account secure with a strong password and two-factor authentication. If you use a passkey, ensure your passkey provider (iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or other) is protected with a strong device passcode.
Only download Cronos app from the official App Store or Google Play.
Never share your screen or biometric access with anyone claiming to be support.
Cronos app will never ask for your Google or Apple password, and will never ask you to share your passkey or biometric data.
